Mongolian NGO donates 15 motorcycles to rangers of Bhutan

AKIPRESS.COM - Mongol Ecology Center, an environmental NGO from Mongolia, has given over 15 motorcycles to the Department of Forests and Park Services of Bhutan on November 13 as part of the Rally for Rangers initiative.

This is the second time the Mongol Ecology Center has provided assistance to Bhutanese rangers, following a similar donation of 15 motorcycles in 2022.

Executive Director of the center Badral Yondon said the initiative was launched after a visit to Mongolia's national parks, where he met a ranger whose motorcycle had broken down. The ranger was using his personal bike due to a lack of government funding to provide proper equipment. Inspired by this, he and his team decided to raise funds and donate motorcycles to Mongolia's national parks.

"What started as a small idea to help one ranger quickly grew into a larger initiative. We raised funds and eventually donated motorcycles to 15 rangers. From there, we expanded our efforts to other countries — Argentina, Nepal, Peru, Bhutan, and Namibia — because we realized that rangers everywhere were facing similar challenges," said Badral Yondon.

In Bhutan, the latest Center donation was made possible by the support of 15 donors, who contributed to the purchase of motorcycles. Before the official handover, donors had the unique opportunity to tour Bhutan on motorcycles, visiting national parks that received donations in 2022.
