AKIPRESS.COM - The European Union and the Mongolian Armed Forces join hands in promoting gender equality in peacekeeping operations during the 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, GoGo reported.
The Peace Operations Training Centre at the Jable castle in Slovenia welcomes 22 Mongolian peacekeepers to attend a specialized training.
Supported by the Service for Foreign Policy Instruments of the European Commission, this training is aimed at empowering Mongolian peacekeepers as advocates for gender equality and human rights.
This flagship project marks the 35th anniversary of establishment of diplomatic relations between the EU and Mongolia.
A key achievement made by the Mongolian Armed Forces has been the implementation of a sectoral gender equality policy from 2020. The EU commends the General Staff of the Mongolian Armed Forces for implementing the gender policy through the gender council and for introducing the role of a "gender officer" into the peacekeeping missions. In addition, more than 150 military personnel have received gender sensitivity training.
