Turkmenistan and UNDCO consider issues of cooperation

AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Rashid Meredov met with Regional Director of the United Nations Development Coordination Office (UNDCO) for Europe and Central Asia Gwi-Yeop Son on November 27, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.

The sides highly appraised the long-standing strategic partnership between Turkmenistan and the United Nations, encompassing a wide range of fields. It was emphasized that the establishment of the Turkmenistan-UN Strategic Advisory Council is an example of active cooperation.

Special emphasis was put on cooperating as part of the implementation of the 2030 Agenda, including the national plans and programmes on SDGs in Turkmenistan. It was noted that foreign policy initiatives on achieving the SDGs and on current regional issues set forth by the country are consistently supported by the United Nations and other international organizations.

The interlocutors noted the adoption of the UN General Assembly Resolution "International Year of Peace and Trust, 2025" initiated by Turkmenistan. They stressed the importance of reinforcing the adopted document with practical measures and enriching it with concrete, purposeful actions.

The interlocutors also considered key areas of cooperation and favorable projects.
