AKIPRESS.COM - The Uzbek authorities have put two Russian citizens, natives of the Chechen Republic, on the international wanted list through Interpol: 36-year-old Bislan Rasaev and 31-year-old Shamil Temirkhanov.
They are suspected of assassination attempt on the former head of the information policy department of the Presidential Administration, Komil Allamjonov, Vzglyad.uz reported.
Rasaev and Temirkhanov arrived in Uzbekistan by different routes: one illegally crossed the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border with the help of local residents, while the other entered through the Dostlik checkpoint on the Uzbek-Kyrgyz border.
According to investigators, both acted on the instructions of those who ordered the murder and offered them $1.5 million for the murder of Allamjonov and the head of the National Agency of Prospective Projects (NAPP), Dmitry Li.
Rasaev is charged with illegal crossing of the border of Uzbekistan, smuggling of goods that could be used in preparation of the crime.
Both are charged with illegal possession of weapon which they planned to use for assassination, and concealment of the crime, which they organized, investigators say.
At around 01:40 am on October 26, on Ifor Street in Kibray district of Tashkent region, two men opened fire on a Range Rover SUV and fled. The statement from the Prosecutor General's Office of Uzbekistan only mentioned the make of the car and the initials of the driver, S.S. Allamjonov's name was not mentioned.
Several criminal cases were launched under Article 25 ("Preparation for a crime and attempted crime"), Article 97 ("Intentional murder") and Article 248 ("Illegal trafficking in firearms, ammunition, main parts of firearms, explosives, blasting agents or explosive devices") of the Criminal Code of Uzbekistan.
Involvement of 7 people into the crime was established during investigation. Five of them were detained, 2 were put on wanted list.
40-year-old Komil Allamjonov served as the press secretary of the President of Uzbekistan from December 2017 to October 2018. He was then appointed Acting Director General of the Uzbek Agency for Press and Information (UzAPI), which was later transformed into the Agency for Information and Mass Communications (AIMC). Allamjonov's deputy was the daughter of the current President of Uzbekistan, Saida Mirziyoyeva.
In January 2020, Allamjonov and Mirziyoyeva announced their resignation from AIMC and created the Public Fund for Support and Development of National Mass Media. Allamjonov headed the Fund's Board of Trustees, and Mirziyoyeva assumed the role of his deputy.
In the summer of 2022, Allamjonov returned to the Presidential Administration as Deputy Head, where he handled issues of public opinion research and information policy. In August 2023, he headed the Department of Information Policy of the Presidential Administration. On September 30, 2024, he left the post. He announced his intention to work in the private sector.
