AKIPRESS.COM - WHO spokesperson Tarik Jašarević said at a press briefing in Geneva that the organization regretted U.S. President Donald Trump's decision to withdraw from the WHO, Reuters reported.
"We hope that United States will reconsider, and we really hope that there will be constructive dialogue for the benefit of everyone, for Americans but also for people around the world," he noted.
U.S. President Donald Trump signed an order to withdraw the country from the World Health Organization immediately after taking office on January 20. The document notes that China's population is almost three times larger than the number of people living in the United States, but China transfers 90% less funds to the WHO budget. According to Donald Trump, this arrangement is unfair.
