China rejects relocation of Gaza residents - Foreign Ministry

AKIPRESS.COM - China disapproves of the coerced relocation of Gaza Strip residents and hopes for a political settlement of the Palestinian issue in line with a two-state solution, Foreign Ministry Spokesman Lin Jian said at a briefing, Tass reported.

"China opposes the forced transfer of Gaza Strip residents and urges all parties to use the ceasefire and post-war administration as an opportunity to push forward the Palestinian issue toward a political resolution based on the two-state approach," the spokesman said, responding to US President Donald Trump's statement on the possible relocation of Gaza residents to other Middle Eastern countries.

Earlier, Trump said at a joint press conference with Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu after talks at the White House that the US was considering long-term control of the Gaza Strip, its redevelopment and turning it into a Middle Eastern Riviera. He also said he believes it is probable that residents of the Palestinian enclave will relocate to other Arab nations.
