U.S. calls Zelensky's refusal to sign agreement on rare earth minerals 'short-sighted'
AKIPRESS.COM - President Zelenskyy is being short-sighted about the opportunity the Trump Administration has presented to Ukraine to provide access to natural resources to American companies, White House National Security Council spokesman Brian Hughes said, according to The Independent.
In February, the Trump administration offered the Ukrainian government the right to grant Washington ownership of 50% of Ukraine's rare earth minerals. Zelensky refused to sign the document.
The White House believes that the deal will be "a way for Ukraine to repay the US for billions of dollars" in weapons and support Washington has provided to Kyiv since February 2022.
