National Museums of Mongolia and Kazakhstan sign memorandum of cooperation

AKIPRESS.COM - On February 24, 2025, Chuluun Sampildondov, Academician and Director of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum of Mongolia, and Berik Abdygaliuyl, Director of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, a state-funded institution under the Culture Committee of the Ministry of Culture and Sports of Kazakhstan, signed a Memorandum of Cooperation, Montsame reports.

Under the Memorandum, the two sides will exchange specialists for knowledge sharing, publish joint academic works, and organize joint scientific conferences to enhance cooperation between museums and deepen scientific and cultural relations to preserve, study, and promote culture and heritage of the two countries. 

The Director of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan emphasized that the Museum has been focusing on researching and promoting the cultural heritage of the Golden Horde in recent years. Specifically, in 2024, Kazakhstan celebrated the 800th anniversary of the Golden Horde and established the Zuchi Khan Complex. Under the Memorandum, he expressed interest in learning from the experience of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum, as well as jointly conducting research, conferences, and projects on the history and legacy of Zuchi Khan, his successors, and the Golden Horde.

The Director of the Chinggis Khaan National Museum of Mongolia also expressed his eagerness to implement collaborative research projects on the history and heritage of the descendants of Chinggis Khaan, including Zuchi Khan, Bat Khan, and other nobles, as well as exploring historical studies of the 17th and 18th centuries. 

The National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan, located in the central square of Astana, is the largest and newest museum in the country. The building comprises seven blocks and 18 exhibition halls.
