AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh is on an official visit to Japan from February 28 to March 5 at the invitation of Minister of Foreign Affairs of Japan Takeshi Iwaya. As part of the visit, Foreign Minister Battsetseg visited Hiroshima prefecture, Montsame reported.

The Foreign Minister of Mongolia held an official meeting with Governor of the Hiroshima prefecture Hidehiko Yuzaki. Minister Battsetseg noted that the government of Mongolia is striving to boost regional development and intends to expand cooperation with Hiroshima prefecture in a wide range of sectors, including tourism, agriculture and food production.

The parties concurred with the importance of direct local cooperation and strengthening mutually beneficial private sector partnerships, and agreed to seek opportunities to promote such cooperation.

On the same day, Foreign Minister Battsetseg visited Hiroshima University and met with President Mitsuo Ochi as well as Associate Professor at the Department of Health Care and Biomedicine Chimed-Ochir Odgerel and representatives of Mongolian students studying at the university.

Minister Battsetseg highly appreciated active cooperation of Hiroshima University with Mongolian universities, including the establishment of the Center of Mongolian Studies in Ulaanbaatar and the expansion of the exchange of teachers and students.

The Foreign Minister noted that Mongolia is implementing the "Presidential Scholarship 2100" program aimed at ensuring equal opportunities for quality education for all citizens of Mongolia.

The parties exchanged views on increasing opportunities for Mongolian students, particularly from countryside to study at the university and train qualified personnel in the industrial sector.

The Minister also got acquainted with the progress of research at the Hiroshima University's Hydrogen Energy Research Center in the field of developing efficient and environmentally friendly technologies for the production of renewable energy, including hydrogen energy, and discussed the possibility of introducing such technologies in Mongolia in the future.
