President of Uzbekistan instructs to dismiss heads of anti-corruption agencies in 117 ministries and departments

AKIPRESS.COM - President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev has instructed the Prime Minister to dismiss the heads of internal anti-corruption control structures across 117 ministries and departments. The move, announced during an expanded meeting on anti-corruption efforts and future priorities, aims to strengthen accountability and enhance efficiency in combating corruption, daryo.uz reported.

The ministers will personally appoint regional compliance officers, reinforcing direct oversight.

In addition, a major structural reform will also be introduced in the Anti-Corruption Agency. As an experiment, compliance control of five key departments - the Ministries of Health, Construction, Water Resources, Uzbekneftegaz, and Uzsuvtaminot - will be transferred to the agency.

These ministries will present a year-end report to the National Council, outlining the corruption factors they have addressed and the relief provided to the public.

Further measures include quarterly visits by the agency, ministers, and governors to three high-corruption areas. These visits will involve in-depth studies of systemic corruption, leading to specific digitization and bureaucratic reduction initiatives.
