Russian Ministry of Defense announces resumption of hostilities after ceasefire

AKIPRESS.COM - The Russian Armed Forces have resumed military operations following the expiration of the Easter ceasefire declared by President Vladimir Putin, the Russian Ministry of Defense announced.

According to the ministry, the Ukrainian Armed Forces committed 4,900 violations of the ceasefire terms. The Russian Army claims it strictly adhered to the ceasefire and remained at previously occupied positions.

During the truce, the Ukrainian Armed Forces attempted six attacks, according to the ministry, in the areas of Sukhaya Balka, Bogatyr, Pershe-Travnya, Belogorovka and Tarasovka in the Donetsk People's Republic, as well as near Oleshnya in Kursk Oblast.

The ministry also reported that during the ceasefire period, the Ukrainian Armed Forces deployed 90 fixed-wing UAVs, including eight outside the active combat zone. Over the past 24 hours, Russian air defense systems allegedly shot down 104 drones.

President Vladimir Putin had ordered all military operations to halt from 6:00 p.m. Moscow time on April 19 until midnight today, April 21. In response, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces will act "symmetrically."
