Kambar-Ata-1 HPP is key element of energy security of Kyrgyzstan and entire Central Asia: Cabinet Chairman

AKIPRESS.COM - Cabinet Chairman Adylbek Kasymaliev met with Switzerland's Executive Director at the World Bank Beatrice Maser on the sidelines of 2025 Spring Meetings of the World Bank Group and the International Monetary Fund, the Cabinet's press service reported.

Adylbek Kasymaliev presented ambitious plans of the government of Kyrgyzstan drawing upon economic growth, which reached 13% in the first quarter of 2025.

"This growth confirms effectiveness of our economic policy and builds a strong foundation for implementation of the National Development Program until 2030," the Cabinet Chairman said.

The parties discussed prospects of cooperation in energy sector, industrialization, development of regional trade and logistical hub, agriculture, tourism and transition to green energy.

Particular attention was paid to construction of the Kambar-Ata-1 HPP.

"Kambar-Ata-1 HPP is a key element of energy security of Kyrgyzstan and entire Central Asia. Its implementation will allow to attract significant foreign investments and stregnthen economic stability of the region," Cabinet Chairman Kasymaliev said.

Beatrice Maser announced about the plan to visit Kyrgyzstan in June 2025 for more detailed discussion of prospects of cooperation.

"Kyrgyzstan has unique potential and as a person born in Switzerland I see many similarities between our countries. I am confident the World Bank will be able to play an important role in support of sustainable development of Kyrgyzstan," she said.

The parties expressed confidence in further strengthening of cooperation between Kyrgyzstan and the World Bank.
