
AKIPRESS.COM - The National Center for Maternal and Child Health of Mongolia has performed its first living-donor kidney transplant on a child. This surgery marks the 410th kidney transplant in Mongolia, the 15th performed on a child, and the very first pediatric living-donor transplant at the National Center, Montsame reported.
Under the cooperation between the National Center for Maternal and Child Health of Mongolia and the First State Central Hospital of Mongolia, a 13-year-old child underwent a kidney transplant, with the mother serving as the donor.
Mongolia first introduced pediatric kidney transplant procedures in 2006, with these surgeries primarily being performed at the First State Central Hospital.
