Kyrgyzstan ranks 117th in Global Human Development Index

AKIPRESS.COM - The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) has ranked Kyrgyzstan 117th out of 193 countries and territories in its latest Human Development Index (HDI) placing the country in the category of nations with high human development.

The index evaluates countries based on three key criteria:

  • Life expectancy at birth;
  • Education levels (expected and average years of schooling);
  • Gross National Income (GNI) per capita adjusted for purchasing power parity (PPP).

While Kyrgyzstan maintained its position in the high development group, neighboring countries reported varied performance.

Kazakhstan advanced to 60th place placing it in the very high human development category.

Uzbekistan ranked 107th, Turkmenistan at 95th and Tajikistan remaining in the medium development category was placed 128th.

At the top of the 2025 ranking is Iceland, followed by Norway, Switzerland, Denmark and Germany.
