
AKIPRESS.COM - The parliamentary committee on budget and fiscal policy on June 9 has reviewed and approved the draft grant agreement between the Cabinet of Ministers of Kyrgyzstan and the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) on the project "Strengthening the capacity of training center for operation and maintenance of the power grid in the Kyrgyz Republic" and the response note of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic to the note of the Japanese government forming together the international agreement.
The information was presented by Deputy Minister of Energy Nasipbek Kerimov.
According to him, currently there is one training center in Kyrgyzstan on operation and maintenance of a power grid, which was created in 1972.
Japan is providing a grant of $10.7 million to Kyrgyzstan’s Ministry of Energy through JICA for the project "Strengthening the capacity of the training center for operation and maintenance of the power grid."
The grant will fund the construction of a new center, solar and battery systems, modern simulators and consultancy services.
The initiative aims to modernize infrastructure and integrate Japanese technologies. The project is expected to be completed by April 2027.
The budget committee approved the agreement in its first reading.
