Role of parliamentary diplomacy grows amidst unstable geopolitical situation - Parliament Speaker at TurkPA meeting

AKIPRESS.COM - Speaker of the Kyrgyz Parliament Nurlanbek Turgunbek uulu attended a meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of Turkic States (TurkPA), held in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, on June 12.

He emphasized the event's significance as a platform for strengthening cooperation, discussing common interests, and defining future directions for collaboration, the parliamentary press service reported.

He reiterated that the brotherly nations are bound by deep kinship ties, shared cultural and linguistic roots, making the development of inter-parliamentary cooperation, rooted in their common cultural and historical heritage.

"As one of the founding countries of TurkPA, the Kyrgyz Republic has always actively participated in the organization's work. We support constructive dialogue between the parliaments of related states and are interested in exchanging legislative experience," he added.

The Speaker also highlighted the growing role of parliamentary diplomacy amidst the current unstable geopolitical situation.

"Today, the world faces serious global challenges: climate change, issues of digital security, terrorism, and water and food shortages. No single state can cope with these on its own. Only international cooperation, trust, and responsibility will help overcome these threats. We are obligated to work together and responsibly for the peace and development of our countries, and for the future of our peoples," he stated.

The Speaker also addressed issues such as education, culture, youth policy, interregional cooperation, digital development, and ecology.

"In particular, within the framework of TurkPA, it is extremely important to create joint platforms for youth and hold forums for young leaders, which will serve as an investment in the future," he said.

He also expressed Kyrgyzstan's readiness to contribute to the further development of TurkPA's activities, enhancing its international authority, and strengthening the unity of the Turkic world.
