
AKIPRESS.COM - Mongolian boxers have claimed silver and bronze medals at the World Cup held in Astana, Kazakhstan, Montsame reported.
International Master of Sport G. Lundaa won the silver medal in the men's 60 kg weight category. He defeated a U.S. boxer with a score of 5:0, then overcame a Kyrgyz opponent 3:2. In the semifinal, he defeated a Japanese boxer, securing at least a bronze. However, he lost to a Brazilian boxer in the final, earning the silver medal.
Meanwhile, International Master of Sport O. Byambaa-Erdene secured a bronze medal in the men's 70 kg division. He won his first two bouts — 5:0 against a Korean boxer and 3:2 against a Swedish boxer— before losing 0:5 to a Brazilian opponent in the semifinals.
More than 30 countries took part in the World Cup. Mongolia was represented by eight male and eight female boxers under the leadership of O. Batkhuu.
