
AKIPRESS.COM - State Secretary of the Ministry of Environment and Climate Change Sh. Batbayar held a meeting with representatives of the Embassy of Germany and the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ), Montsame reported.
The meeting was attended by Head of the Development Cooperation Section of the German Embassy in Mongolia Udo Weber, GIZ Country Director for Mongolia Jürgen Hartwig, and Coordinator of Environmental Projects Bastian Flury.
The two sides exchanged views within the framework of their ongoing cooperation, including Phases II and III of the project on biodiversity conservation and climate change adaptation, and preparations for the 17th session of the Conference of the Parties (COP17) to the UN Convention to Combat Desertification.
In addition to these issues, both sides emphasized that Mongolia and Germany have maintained long-standing and successful cooperation in environmental protection, expanding the network of protected areas, and implementing sustainable forest and natural resource management.
During the meeting, Mongolia underscored the importance of aligning its climate change policies with international best practices and support. GIZ representatives expressed their commitment to further deepening cooperation in Mongolia's environmental sector.
This meeting marked an important step that will strengthen bilateral cooperation on environmental and climate issues and advance the implementation of specific joint projects.
