Kyrgyzstan becomes first CIS country to introduce 3D technology in prosthetics - Ministry of Social Security

AKIPRESS.COM - Kyrgyzstan's National Prosthetic-Orthopedic Institution on March 5 presented newly acquired French 3D-scanning and 3D-printing equipment as part of its modernization.

The €45,850 technology funded by the national budget is being used to introduce 3D prosthetics for the first time in the CIS.

The institution serves over 13,000 people with disabilities providing prostheses for lower (1,396) and upper (443) limbs and producing more than 150 types of prosthetic products. The new technology allows for more precise, comfortable, and individualized prostheses, reducing the need for multiple fittings.

Officials including Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers Edil Baisalov, Labor Minister Kanat Sagynbaev, the French Ambassador, and partners from Russia and Uzbekistan attended. Baisalov highlighted that this step modernizes equipment that had not been updated for 40 years and marks a major advancement in Kyrgyzstan's prosthetics and rehabilitation services.
