AKIPRESS.COM - The Tashkent Road Traffic Management Center is replacing traffic lights and supporting infrastructure to implement a new Intelligent Transport System (ITS), Kun.uz reported.
This upgrade replaces manual regulation with an automated digital environment where intersections act as analytical hubs. Using real-time sensors, the system adjusts light durations based on traffic volume and prioritizes public transport by extending green lights for approaching buses.
To ensure system stability and precision, authorities are replacing old utility poles with vibration-resistant, galvanized supports that house power and fiber-optic cables underground. These new supports protect the infrastructure from weather and outages while reducing maintenance costs.
Officials noted that modernizing the city's transport network was technically impossible without first replacing the outdated foundations of the existing infrastructure.
