
AKIPRESS.COM - Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration, Head of the Department for Preparing Decisions of the President and the Cabinet of Ministers, Azamat Kadyraliev, met with Syrian President Ahmed Hussein al-Shaara on the sidelines of the Antalya Diplomacy Forum, the presidential press service reported.
Kadyraliev took part in the forum as the Special Representative of the President of Kyrgyzstan for promoting the country's candidacy for non-permanent membership in the UN Security Council.
During the meeting, the Kyrgyz side requested support for Kyrgyzstan's candidacy in the upcoming UN Security Council elections, which will take place in early June this year. Kadyraliev noted that support from fraternal Arab countries is important for Kyrgyzstan.
President Ahmed Hussein al-Shaara expressed readiness to support Kyrgyzstan's candidacy and to send the relevant decision through official diplomatic channels, the statement said.
The sides also discussed prospects for bilateral cooperation, current issues of regional and international security, as well as the development of humanitarian cooperation, including coordination in providing assistance to affected populations.
