AKIPRESS.COM - Minister of Foreign Affairs of Mongolia Battsetseg Batmunkh and Minister of External Affairs of India Subrahmanyam Jaishankar held official talks at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on June 22, exchanging views on bilateral relations and cooperation, as well as regional and international issues of mutual interest, Montsame reported.
Minister Battsetseg expressed appreciation for Jaishankar's official visit to Mongolia and reaffirmed Mongolia's commitment to further expanding and deepening cooperation with India.
The Mongolian side underscored that the visit is significant for advancing agreements reached by the leaders of the two countries, strengthening the strategic partnership, expanding mutually beneficial trade and economic cooperation, and identifying future directions for bilateral collaboration.
The sides reaffirmed their shared commitment to broadening cooperation across all sectors and to closely collaborating on the effective implementation of major projects and programs of strategic importance.
The state visit of President Khurelsukh Ukhnaa to India last year was highlighted as an important milestone that opened a new chapter in bilateral relations and enriched the strategic partnership.
Minister Battsetseg emphasized that the construction of the Oil Refinery is of strategic importance for strengthening Mongolia's economic security and supporting the country's long-term development. She expressed gratitude for India's continued support of the project.
The Ministers discussed ways to increase trade and investment, diversify the trade structure, and make better use of the comparative advantages and resources of both countries.
They explored opportunities to expand Mongolia's exports of coking coal and other mining products to India, while further enhancing cooperation in agriculture and livestock sectors, including raw material supply, processing industries, technology transfer, and human resource development.
To deepen mutually beneficial economic cooperation, the two sides agreed to continue close collaboration in developing new transport and logistics connections, utilizing third-country ports and transportation corridors, and establishing regular direct flights between Mongolia and India.
The Mongolian side informed that preparations are underway to launch direct flights between Ulaanbaatar and New Delhi, expressing confidence that the route will facilitate people-to-people exchanges and tourism.
The Ministers emphasized that cooperation in education and culture serves as a strong bridge connecting the peoples of the two countries and plays an important role in strengthening mutual understanding and friendship.
They agreed to expand scholarship opportunities, training programs, and professional development initiatives. Particular attention will be given to launching projects aimed at teaching English in rural schools and training English-language teachers.
The Indian side also shared its experience in using smart technologies to monitor livestock health and pasture management and proposed cooperation in this area.
The Ministers reaffirmed their commitment to expanding cooperation on regional and international issues, including within the framework of the United Nations and other international organizations.
