AKIPRESS.COM - The Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan and Japan held political consultations on July 3, the Foreign Ministry of Turkmenistan reported.

The Turkmen delegation was headed by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of Turkmenistan Myahhri Byashimova, while the Japanese delegation was led by Special Representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Japan for Central Asia Masaki Ishikawa.

During the meeting, the diplomats held a detailed exchange of views on a wide range of issues related to bilateral and regional cooperation. They emphasized that regular and trust-based dialogue at the highest political state and governmental levels serves as the foundation for the successful development of the comprehensive Turkmen-Japanese partnership.

The sides reaffirmed their mutual readiness to further strengthen coordination within leading international organizations, primarily the United Nations, with the aim of promoting global peace and ensuring sustainable development.

Special attention was devoted to practical cooperation within the framework of the Central Asia + Japan Dialogue, with both sides underscoring the importance of implementing the agreements reached during previous high-level meetings and summits.

In discussing political ties, the diplomats highlighted the effectiveness of inter-parliamentary contacts between the two countries and noted the important coordinating role of the interparliamentary friendship groups.

Turning to trade and economic cooperation, the participants reviewed the implementation of joint investment projects. They noted the strong momentum of cooperation in the gas chemical industry, energy, and transport and logistics sectors. They emphasized the significant role of the Turkmen-Japanese and Japan-Turkmen Committees for Economic Cooperation in advancing collaboration in priority sectors of the economy.

Alongside economic cooperation, the sides stressed the importance of deepening humanitarian ties. They expressed support for continuing productive exchanges in science and education, promoting Japanese language study programmes in Turkmenistan, and further expanding cultural dialogue between the peoples of the two countries.

At the conclusion of the consultations, the two sides reaffirmed their unwavering commitment to further strengthening their comprehensive partnership and emphasized that regular consultations between the two Foreign Ministries serve as an effective mechanism for identifying new promising areas of mutually beneficial cooperation.
