Police to replace militsiya in Tajikistan

AKIPRESS.COM - Tajik police The Ministry of Interior of Tajikistan has prepared a draft law on police reform under the order of the Government, Asia-Plus reported.

The draft law supposes that “militsiya” will be renamed to “police”, and will replace the law of Tajikistan on militsiya adopted in May 2004.

After the Government's approval, it will be sent to the Lower House of the Parliament for consideration.

The new bill basically covers the norms laid down in the law on militsiya.

Rotation of senior local police staff will require conduct of a sociological survey of the population by the Rotation Commission of the Interior Ministry.
